Hello! I am new to the library cataloging community and am pursuing a degree in School Library Media. I stumbled upon this blog site while browsing to find credible and informative blogs. Obviously I was impressed with this site when I saw the link for free resources! Those are a teacher/librarian’s best friend. I was interested in looking at what types of resources were available concerning MARC Records. I am currently attending a cataloging class and have found MARC Records a very difficult subject. After reviewing the free resources at the listed link, I feel a little more comfortable about MARC. The presentation gave a more in-depth yet simplistic view of MARC records, especially how to go about creating them. I agree with the assumption that most librarians have not have formal courses in MARC, because I have not. This resource really helped to break down what MARC means and why it is so important to us. The way the tags and indicators were explained was very easy to comprehend. This is a very valuable resource that made me feel more confident about MARC Records.
